Two Northwest Technology Center (NWTC) students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program finished 8th in the Statewide Ford AAA competition. Fairview High School seniors Keeton and Kale Neufeld put together the Top 10 finish at the recent competition held at OSU-Okmulgee.

The students placed 8th in the statewide contest diagnosing and repairing a 2013 vehicle. Watson is the Automotive Technology Instructor at Northwest Technology Center in Fairview.

According, to Bobby Watson, Automotive Technology Instructor, “Over 400 students statewide took a written qualifying exam. Only the top 20 moved on to the actual hands-on phase of the competition. It is very exciting to have our team finish 8th!”

Watson also credits cooperation from Vinton Baker Ford in Fairview for helping the students prepare for the hands-on competition. “Vinton Baker loaned us a new car for three weeks so that we could practice and familiarize ourselves with the 2013 Ford Focus. This support is very appreciated. It is difficult for students who don’t actually practice on a vehicle to do well in this contest.” said Watson. “Without their cooperation, our students would not have had nearly the learning experience or the success in the competition.”
