Practical Nursing Program Open for Fall 2014 Enrollment

Northwest Technology Center announced today that it is now accepting applications for its Practical Nursing program beginning in November of 2014. The application deadline is August 29. Classes for the 12 month program will begin in early November. The program is available to students from throughout NWTC’s district. Instruction for the class will be held primarily at the Alva campus but clinical sites will rotate at healthcare facilities throughout the area, including, Fairview, Enid and Alva.

Classes of practical nursing students are limited to 12. This number is designated by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing which takes into consideration, the size and number of available clinical facilities.

Two informational dates for the program have been scheduled. They are: Tuesday, June 3 from 8:30am until 1:30pm on the Alva campus and Wednesday, June 4 from 8:30am until noon at the Fairview campus. Those who are interested my drop in or call ahead and schedule an appointment at either location. Instructors and current students will be available to answer questions on the program and the application process. Please contact Kate Nickel, PN Secretary at 580.327.0344.

In order to apply for admission into the program, potential students will need to gather all high school and college transcripts, obtain immunization records, present proof of CNA Certification and Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid Certification, be aware of the OSBI Background check in all 3 divisions and be preparing for the T.E.A.S. test. Test preparation can be found at www.aittesting.com. Following the application and testing process, students will also be required to complete an interview to be considered for admission into the program.

Potential students what are interested obtaining an application, should contact Kate Nickel, PN Secretary at 580-327-0344 to schedule a T.E.A.S test. The tests will be administered at Northwest Technology Center in Alva.

Diane Duffy serves as the program’s director and an instructor. Tara Thomas and Debra Button also serve as instructors in the program.
