Fairview Regional Medical Center Honored for Contributions

 

Fairview Regional Medical Center was honored for contributions to the development, promotion, and progress of Oklahoma's technology center system during the recent Business and Industry Day at the State Capitol of Oklahoma. The award is presented by the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers (OATC).

Accepting the OATC Partners for Progress Award for the hospital was Roger Knak, Administrator. The healthcare facility was nominated for the honor by Steve Kliewer, Business and Industry Services Director at Northwest Technology Center’s Fairview campus. “Fairview Regional Medical Center has been a great partner for our students by providing clinical training sites and by mentoring and supporting them in their pursuit of a career in healthcare.” said Kliewer.

The Partners for Progress Award is given annually and recognizes businesses and industries which have demonstrated their commitment to CareerTech education in a variety of ways including financial support, cooperative programs, community involvement and student sponsorships.

Dr. Gerald Harris, Northwest Technology Center’s Superintendent, said that Fairview Regional Medical Center has been a great supporter of our students in many initiatives in areas such as certified nurse aide training, certified medication aide training and the pre-nursing career major.

“The professional development and training of employees is key to the future growth of the hospital and the facility regularly participates in training activities with Northwest Technology Center. The facility is also a primary clinical training site for Northwest Technology Center students.” stated Kliewer.

City of Alva Recognized as Partner in Progress

The City of Alva recently received the Partners For Progress Award from the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers (OATC).   Pictured include:  Steve Kliewer, Business and Industry Services Director-NWTC Fairview; Jane Bowen, NWTC’s Superintendent; Steve Brown, City Manager-City of Alva; Kirk Trekell, Alva Fire Chief; Charlotte Hadwiger, Business and Industry Services Director-NWTC Alva; Daren Slater, Assistant Superintendent, NWTC-Alva; Dr. Gerald Harris, Assistant Superintendent, NWTC-Fairview.      

Tthe City of Alva was honored for contributions to the development, promotion, and progress of Oklahoma's technology center system during the 2010 Career and Technology Education Summer Conference held August 2 and 3 at the Tulsa Convention Center.

Accepting the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers' Partners for Progress Award for the City of Alva were Steve Brown, Alva City Manager, Alex Mantz, Economic Development Coordinator/Executive Director of the Alva Chamber of Commerce and Kirk Trekell, Alva Fire Chief.  The municipality was nominated for the honor by Northwest Technology Center.

The Partners for Progress Award recognizes businesses, organizations and industries which have demonstrated their commitment to CareerTech education in a variety of ways including cooperative programs and community involvement.  “The City of Alva has worked closely with Northwest Technology Center during the past several years.   The city has supported Northwest Technology Center’s Business and Industry training initiatives as well as the school’s daytime programs.” said Jane Bowen, NWTC’s Superintendent.  “Working with the City of Alva has been really positive for our school, our students and our community.”  

According to Daren Slater, NWTC’s Assistant Superintendent on the Alva Campus, “Employees of the city have completed training in the areas of safety, firefighter training, leadership, motivation and much more.  Both the City of Alva and Northwest Technology Center have partnered for many years on economic development issues.”

 

Martens Manufacturing Earns Statewide Honor

Garen Martens Manufacturing was honored for contributions to the development, promotion, and progress of Oklahoma's technology center system during the 2009 Career and Technology Education Summer Conference held Aug. 4-6 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.  Martens Manufacturing received the Partners for Progress Award.

Accepting the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers' Partners for Progress Award for Garen Martens Manufacturing were Garen and Eva Martens, owners/operators of the manufacturing operation. 

The Partners for Progress Award recognizes businesses and industries which have demonstrated their commitment to CareerTech education in a variety of ways including cooperative programs and community involvement.  “Garen Martens Manufacturing has worked closely with Northwest Technology Center during the past several years.   The business has participated in multiple training opportunities at the technology center and has supported Northwest Technology Center’s Business and Industry training initiatives as well as the school’s daytime programs.” said Dr. Gerald Harris, NWTC’s Assistant Superintendent on the Fairview campus.  “Both Garen and Eva are very active in the Fairview community.”   Eva Martens serves on the School Board for Fairview Public Schools.  

According to Jane Bowen, NWTC’s Superintendent, “Employees of Martens Manufacturing have completed training in the areas of safety, leadership, lean manufacturing and much more.  Martens Manufacturing is a partner for progress with Northwest Technology Center in training the Northwest Oklahoma workforce for the future. The business is truly an agent for economic development and growth in Major County and throughout Northwest Oklahoma.” 

According to Garen Martens, “Northwest Technology Center has provided my company with productivity, management, safety, and skills training to allow us to be a leader in our industry. Our training has reduced injuries and lowered insurance rates. Lean Manufacturing, and 5S training have helped our employees to participate in the workflow design to increase production output through smarter use of our time and resources. We are pleased with the results we receive from our relationship with NW Technology Center.”
