Steps for enrollment:

1.

Complete an enrollment application.

2. Call NWTC counselor to schedule an appointment and take assessments.
3. Bring copy of HS diploma, HS transcript, GED or homeschool equivalency.
4.

Adults are encouraged to file for financial aid.

Complete the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) in print, or online at www.fafsa.gov.

  • Identify NWTC as your school code choice on the FAFSA application.
  • NWTC Federal Code for both the Alva and Fairview Campuses is 026000.
  • Send off your application using one of the following:
    • Online: www.fafsa.gov
    • Mail: Federal Student Aid Programs, PO Box 4691, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864-0059

Tuition and Fees

High school students who attend school in the Northwest Technology Center District may attend without paying tuition; however, additional fees for courses will be the responsibility of the student.

The Tuition Costs are listed below for High School and Adult students.

High School In-District: No Tuition Cost
High School Out-of-District Tuition: $$11,874.50 per semester
Adult In-District: $2.00 per hour
Adult Out-of-District: $4.00 per hour

Automotive Collision: $0.50 per hour Materials Fee
Automotive Technology: $0.50 per hour Materials Fee
Bio-Medical Science and Technology - High school only - no fees apply
Business and Information Technology: $0.50 per hour Materials Fee
Construction Technology: $0.50 per hour Materials Fee
Culinary: $0.50 per hour
Digital Design: $0.50 per hour
Health Careers Certification: $0.50 per hour Materials Fee, $75 Immunization Fee, and $60 Testing Fee*
Practical Nursing: fees will apply and will be posted soon
Welding Technology: $0.50 per hour

*The Immunization Fee for Health Careers Certifications is paid in full at the beginning of the semester. (The HBV is a series of three shots over several months).
The testing Fee for Health Careers Certifications applies only to students taking State Exams for Long-Term Care Aide/Home Health Aide.

Next Step Tuition Waiver

Students who live in-district, have a high school diploma, GED or a home school equivalency and are under the age of 24 at the start date of classes are eligible to attend NWTC tuition free.  Fees applicable to the major must be paid by the student.  There is NO DOLLAR AMOUNT tied to this tuition waiver.

A tuition waiver recipient who turns 24 during the academic year will be able to finish the remainder of that academic year tuition-free.  For all continuing and subsequent career programs after the student has turned 24, the student will be required to pay tuition.  Students who receive a Northwest Tech Tuition Waiver will still be eligible to apply for financial aid.

Students in the Practical Nursing Program are NOT ELIGIBLE for this waiver.
