Two NWTC students enrolled in the Automotive Technology program finished 7th in the Statewide Ford AAA competition. Fairview High School senior, Lane Spradlin and Ringwood High School senior, Keaton Beaty put together the Top 10 finish at the recent competition held at OSU-Okmulgee.

According, to Bobby Watson, Automotive Technology Instructor, over 500 students statewide took a written qualifying exam. Only the top 20 moved on to the actual hands-on phase of the competition. It is very exciting to have our team finish 7th!

Watson also credits cooperation from Vinton Baker Ford in Fairview for helping the students prepare for the hands-on competition. “Vinton Baker loaned us a new car for three weeks so that we could practice and familiarize ourselves with the 2014 Ford Fiesta. This support is very appreciated. It is difficult for students who don’t actually practice on a vehicle to do well in this contest.” said Watson. “Without their cooperation, our students would not have had nearly the learning experience or the success in competition.”
